Founded in Albany, New York, in 1898 by William Barnet, the Company has been dedicated to a vision of being preeminent in trading and processing of textile and polymer products. Over the past century, Barnet has built a reputation for customer service and flexibility.

The company’s first 100 years were marked by the introduction of new technologies, new products and global expansion.

When the textile industry shifted to the South in the 1960’s, the company’s first manufacturing plant, known as Barnet Southern, opened in Tryon, NC in 1963. Further southern expansions established the Worldwide Corporate Headquarters in Arcadia, SC in 1976, and additional manufacturing in Kinston, NC in 1979.

During the late 1980’s, concerted efforts were made to increase activities outside the United States. In October 1990, the company established European Headquarters, including manufacturing and sales divisions, in Aachen, Germany. Sales offices were opened in Hong Kong in 1995, Mumbai, India in 2002 and Shanghai, China in 2003.

Today, supported by sales and/or manufacturing facilities in the United States, Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands, Slovakia, China, Hong Kong, India, and Costa Rica, Barnet truly serves a world market of fibers, polymers, and yarns. We believe our competitive advantages are our people, our worldwide network, and the variety of products, services, and solutions we provide to customers and suppliers in more than 70 countries.
