Applications are possible both in the cryogenic range (-270 °C) and permanently at high temperatures (300 °C). This wide range makes polyimide fibers very widely applicable. Its thermal stability is based on the aromatic backbone of the polymer. The fibers do not melt and are very flame-resistant due to their very high LOI 38. The fibers have a unique multilobal cross-section, which offers 90% more surface area than conventional round fibers. This makes them a perfect material for highly efficient filter systems. The fibers also meet the requirements of all common textile processing steps.
