Polymers are described as chemical compounds consisting of chain or branched molecules (macromolecules), which in turn consist of a large number of identical or similar units, the so-called monomers. Polymers are macromolecules whose molecular weights, with the same percentage atomic composition, are in an integer ratio to one another and have the same internal structure.
Synthetic polymers are generally “plastics.” Plastics are created by a processing procedure in which a polymer-raw material is processed together with additives using heat and/or pressure via a molding compound to form a plastic material.
