Polyetheretherketone is a thermoplastic synthetic material which is also available in fiber form. It is permanently very tear-resistant, highly temperature-resistant (up to 260 °C in continuous operation, melting point 335 °C.) with very low gas emissions. In combination with very good resistance to chemicals and electromagnetic radiation, applications are widespread, especially in cable harnesses and braided insulating hoses. The lightweight material has an outstanding coefficient of friction and very good wear properties. In combination with its relatively low density, PEEK is an excellent choice for sports equipment, medical technology, and aerospace applications. It is often used as a compound in the injection molding industry.
