Demetrice Williams, Shipping and Receiving Clerk-Spartanburg, SC, began her career with Barnet on October 9,1973 and recently celebrated her 49th anniversary. Dee said she wasn’t really looking for a new job when she landed at Barnet.
However, she had some friends who encouraged her to apply so she did and got a job. Dee started out in the Mainplant in Spartanburg running a machine. At that time, the main building was the only building on the Barnet campus. During her first year, Dee went from machine operator to winder and eventually shipping and receiving. Bill Barnet III was leading Barnet when Dee came. Many changes have taken place since Dee first arrived. New warehouses were built, leadership changed, company ownership changed, and co-workers came and went. According to Dee, working at Barnet has been a good experience for her. “I got married and had kids and Barnet was always good to me, it was like family”, Dee stated.
