Aachen, July 15th 2025 – In 2025, Barnet Europe proudly celebrates its 50th anniversary – a milestone marking five decades of innovation, agility, and global orientation.
Founded in 1975 as “Cherotan Fibers” by Bertold Schmid, the company became part of William Barnet & Son LLC in 1990 – a family-owned business based in Spartanburg, South Carolina (USA), with a legacy dating back to 1898. From its earliest days, the company has focused on recycling industrial textile waste, laying the foundation for today’s sustainable operations. In 1995, the European branch was renamed Barnet Europe.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, Markus Wolff of the Aachen Chamber of Industry and Commerce presented a commemorative certificate to Managing Director Bernd Lenzen – in recognition of five decades of entrepreneurial success, continuous transformation, and innovation.
Today, Barnet Europe is a dynamic producer and distributor of technical fibers and yarns, offering sustainable and forward-looking material solutions. Its products are used in a wide range of industries worldwide – including automotive, plastics, construction and paper.
With a strong customer-centric mindset, Barnet Europe remains highly responsive to market demands and actively pursues global opportunities. Flexibility, innovation, and responsibility are cornerstones of the company’s philosophy.
Looking ahead, Barnet Europe is taking its next major step: Construction has begun on a new facility in Eschweiler, with relocation planned for the first quarter of 2026. This marks a key investment in sustainability, growth, and a modern working environment.
