william barnet & son llc announces retirement of chief financial officer, byrd miller III

Spartanburg, SC – After a 30 year career as our Chief Financial Officer, Byrd Miller III will be retiring effective September 30, 2022.

Byrd joined Barnet on February 3, 1992 and has had an incredible career as our CFO and has been instrumental in the success of our company.
Byrd graduated from Clemson University in 1980 and started his career in Greenville with Citizens and Southern Bank(C&S) moving to Spartanburg in 1985.  At C&S, Byrd got to know Barnet, and in time, he accepted an offer from Bill Barnet to join the company.
Over the past 30 years, Byrd has guided all financial aspects of our company. Access to capital and sound financial policy are required to be successful, and Byrd ensured that we stayed on track over the last 30 years.  During his tenure, we have made significant investments in equipment, we have acquired companies, and we have sold businesses. We have established offices and operations in many parts of the world. Throughout, Byrd has ensured that we were financially sound in all that we did.  Additionally, he helped design and finance our current ownership structure which is the model that will take our company forward.
In the community, Byrd and Liza have been incredible advocates for and contributors to the growth of the City of Spartanburg.  They raised their two children, Cate and Byrd IV, in Spartanburg and are proud grandparents today.  Byrd currently serves on the Board of the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System and Park National Bank.
I will always remember, and we will continue to live by his favorite saying; “Keep some hay in the barn.”
Please join me in thanking Byrd for his service and wishing him the best in retirement!
